| The lyrics no one guessed on the meme belong to two absolutely beautiful songs that everyone should listen to if they only can. #14 was Take It With Me by Tom Waits; here are ( the full, stunning lyrics, ) and you can download Megan Mullally's (better, in my opinion) version of it here. Megan's a stupendous storyteller and this song works perfectly with her rhythm. It's from her amazing album with Supreme Music Program, Big As A Berry. Another really gorgeous Tom Waits cover of Megan's is Ruby's Arms, which you can download here--it's sadly not on CD that's attainable right now *shakes fist* If someone could find any way to get a copy of The Sweetheart Break-In, by the way, it'd be the best Hanukkah gift ever. #18 was Joni Mitchell's Come In From the Cold. It's one of those songs that just floor me every time I hear it, not unlike Take It With Me, with the rampant loving-yet-sobered emotion being common to both pieces (and the fact they both make me bawl like a wee baby). It has some of ( the best lyrics I've ever heard. )In best Joni tradition. You can get it here. You really should check all of those out if you can--they're some of my very favourite songs ever, and so unique and laden with meaning and beauty and srsly, great stuff. That meme really inspired me, too. I'm even writing a smutty-esque Huddy fic with Massive Attack's Intertia Creeps in mind ( hihoplastic!). That's the sexiest song there ever was. Mmm. | Why does Yellow by Coldplay make me cry? I really don't understand. Especially now that I know it was written about the spawn of Satan. But every time Chris Martin sings, "Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful, and you know--for you I'd bleed myself dry..." I just... start to sob. Gone are the days of flaming the Gwynthrow while listening to Coldplay. Now I just cry. All I need is a pint of ice cream frozen yogurt!!! and a sad movie. Sad movie, sad movie... The End of the Affair? OMG.
In related news, Adi totally went to a Phil Collins concert and said it was the bestest concert that ever was. Which is not surprising. But okay. I missed it because I'm stupid. But that's okay too. I'm not bitter. *hackcough* Well, I'm bitter, but definitely not as bitter as missing Tori Amos by two days in London. That was nice.
In other, unrelated news, I still haven't found a necklace and it's beginning to bother me a lot. I get that it sounds silly, that it's just a jewel, a symbol, that it doesn't mean anything, but I feel weird not having it on me or around.
Also, I miss him a lot, and just for the record, this sucks. A lot. However, and this is a big deal, his parents invited me for Shabbat dinner. Ahhh what. Question to my flist: do I bring them a present? Like a bottle of wine or flowers or something? His sisters and their respective husbands will be there as well.
